Birte Opitz is a performer, writer, movement and empowerment educator as well as an activist against sexual violence. Her work is shifting between Workshops, Performances and rituals, in immersive or participatory formats. Mostly working with somatic dance and voice improvisation, dealing with intimacy and empowerment, vulnerability and hysteria. As a performer, she is currently developing practices of how to dance with her second body, her voice body within her. In her research on collective grief rituals she has shared the Solos “The moaning piece” and “I stay a bit longer. The moaning piece revisited” at Altes Finanzamt. She is also part of the collective Actions Against Rape Culture and is initiating the Podcast “Not Your Opfer! Wir sprechen über sexualisierte Gewalt” (get ready, coming out soon!). Birte is teaching movement, empowerment and self-defense for kids and FLINT* adults.
